Dollar Store Finds
Hello, dears! Today, I want to take some time to tell you of my little adventure to our local Dollar Tree. I love dollar stores for inspiration and holiday decorating ideas that do not need to be super expensive or require hours of wandering around massive aisles looking for washi tape. I know for some people they might turn up their noses at such an idea, but the thriftier the better for me. Anyway, there I was wandering around and examining all the things and trying to get an idea of what to add to my list of things to craft when I came upon these adorable little packets of glitter.
They had them arranged by color types so there was a set of blues/greens, Golds/browns, White/blacks, pinks/reds. I was ecstatic because sometimes I am working on something and I wish I had some glitter but I don’t keep any on hand. I know I should, but I don’t. One of the problems with being crafty is that the children want to be crafty too, and your stash might as well be their stash. The fear of glitter all over everything keeps me out of glitter. Right next to the packets of glitter there were little containers and I thought, of course, I will just pour those in and presto: I have my little starter set for ME! I will add some to their stash, just not right away. I lack the courage to make that stride into allowing my children unfettered access to glitter.
Other great finds I have come across are a set of planner stickers. I love stickers and I love any type of planner stickers I can find. This helps me create my own style for my organizer, planners, and bullet Journals. I am just learning about the fun one can have with an organizer to make it truly a unique thing all your own. My husband keeps telling me “There are apps for that, you know.” He is right of course, but I seriously love the creative process working with these designs and stickers, glue, tape, drawings. It really is relaxing and I can work on them away from my phone while watching a movie or even binge-watching a TV series. These stickers are in a small slim packet that makes it easy to slide right into my planner pockets and keep them handy when I need to make a note of something.
As I alluded to above, another surprise item I have found at the Dollar Tree are washi tapes. I love the use of washi tapes and how they can really personalize planners. I go with what is cheap and available if I can or on sale if it gets the job done. As long as it is pretty, it catches my attention and fits with the project I am planning. There are other sources for washi tapes, but if I can grab them at the Dollar Tree or other dollar stores I will do it. This is one thing I love having a lot of.
I also discovered that they had some double-sided tape and if I don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for double-sided tape I am one very happy camper. I was like a kid in a candy store debating on whether or not I could justify buying everything and skimping on some meals. The answer was of course no. It seems people like to eat. That requires groceries and such as that. I could not grab everything. But, sometimes I will do into the Dollar Tree with $5 or $10 and see what I can add to my crafting stash of supplies.
The glitter sat around in their dollar tree bags, because well, life happens. Just because I have a planner does not mean I am entirely organized on my time. Baby steps. Once I did get around to putting those little glitters in containers it was a full week later. Anyway, when pouring packets of glitter into little containers, make sure you use some white paper and be prepared, kids may want to help. I have a very sparkly tablecloth right now, but most of the glitter is in containers. Seems I did not buy enough container sets. I will have to go back.
Well, there it is. My day at the Dollar Tree. Far more eventful than the grocery store, I assure you. Take a look around, tell me what fun things you’ve discovered at the Dollar Tree, or just what items you may have put together from items found there. Just a reminder my darling friends be Flamazing!
